Kayla Nanto, Mezzo-Soprano

Kayla Nanto is a dynamic, Dallas-based mezzo-soprano celebrated for her versatility and compelling stage presence. This season, she appears as the title role in Carmen with The Abilene Philharmonic and as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly with Opera San José, Fort Worth Opera, and The Princeton Festival. This fall, she will make her mainstage debut with the Dallas Opera as Gianetta in Elixir of Love and Lapák/The Woodpecker in The Cunning Little Vixen.

Kayla is a former Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Singer, a two-time District Winner in the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition, and winner of first place and The Jonathan Pell People’s Choice Award in The Dallas Opera’s Lonestar Competition. Other performing highlights include Hansel in Hansel & Gretel with Opera Montana, the title role in the workshop of Zheng with Opera San José, and Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with Pensacola Opera. Kayla holds degrees from University of North Texas (Master of Music) and University of Northern Colorado (Bachelor of Music).
